It's one thing for other people to assume you are flawed from what they see outside, but it's a different thing for you to be the judge of yourself. Be careful of those inner conversations and the thoughts that don't benefit you. Do you constantly review every little decision and mistake you made in the past, unable to move forward with everything that you don't think you do not yet have?
👉🏽 Join me in this powerful episode Leading With Your Weakness with Lia Dunlap.
Key points covered in this episode:
✔️Control your thoughts — it's the only thing you can do. Before you get out of bed and face the world, there's no one else but you that talks to you. Whatever ideas and negative beliefs play out in your mind, you're creating them and responsible for them.
✔️ The coaching community has perpetuated the concept of striving, overcoming, and the hero's journey. This idea is that a hero's journey is inherently full of struggle and sets us up to constantly judge ourselves for what we would consider our weaknesses, our less than perfect selves. We do not always need to conquer those fears, doubts, frustrations, or things we see as flaws. What we can do is master our weaknesses, harnessing them as our strengths.
✔️One of my clients said that the fault people pointed out to her was being "too nice". Those others made it clear that it's not good for her to be such (with that condescending tone). When we talked about it and dug a little deeper, she realized and shared that what others consider a weakness has also been her strength.
✔️ Kindness doesn't always mean being nice. If you have ever stood up for someone, having to express the truth, even if it's not always pleasant – this can be one of the kindest things you can do. It comes from a loving place and a solid source to be able to speak up for the benefit of others.
✔️You are a unique, powerful force in the universe. Every piece of you is meant to help you achieve your purpose, which includes those things you perceive as weaknesses and what the world may consider lacking in you. You must look at all parts of you and revere that because you were made complete and ready to bless others and help people rise.
Do you often fall prey to thinking of your "dark side"? Your shortcomings, frustrations, and mistakes and considering them all as defects leave you feeling helpless to make any significant change or stuck with what to do next?
I was once like you, yet I've gotten to the other side, understanding what it's like to embrace the fullness of who you are. To give yourself to this world the way you were meant to — your authentic, beautiful self and move forward so that you can embrace others with the wholeness of who you are.
